Chasing Megersa: video alert!

...would love it if you would follow along as we record our adoption journey. We feel blessed to be called to adopt a son from Ethiopia!
About our journey:
- We requested "either" gender, 0-18 months.
- We received our referral of Megersa on Nov 5, 2009; he was 2 months old.
- Megersa's name is pronounced "Meh-gur-sah."
- Our case was submitted on Dec 18, 2009 and our court date was Jan 27, 2010. We were fortunate to pass court on the first try!
- Tim's mom and I left for Ethiopia on March 8, 2010 for an Embassy appointment of March 10, 2010. We passed!
- Megersa met the rest of his family in the US 3.13.10.
- When we re-adopt him, his full legal name will be Megersa Jace Nester.

So, there's my baby.
But here is my BIG BOY!! I have not forgotten him.
There is no way I could.
I don't know how anyone could!
I love Cale SO MUCH!
I'm confident that once the jealousy subsides, he will be the best big brother ever! Plus, BONUS: He loves to play "doggie" and crawl around on the floor (it's exhausting sometimes...but I bet Megersa will LOVE IT!).

adoption timeline

March 13, 2010 - Megersa is home forever!
March 9, 2010 - arrived in Ethiopia!
March 8, 2010 - boarded ET air to ETHIOPIA!
Feb 23, 2010 - recieved Megersa's "child departure report"
Feb 19, 2010 - made reservations at the King's Hotel in Addis, for March 9-12.
Feb 10, 2010 - booked flights from DC to Addis with ET air.
Feb 6, 2010 - got an email with travel dates! March 10th it is!!
Feb 5, 2010 - got an email with Megersa's birth certificate attached. His birthday is Sept 3, 2009!
Jan 27, 2010 - WE PASSED COURT! Megersa Jace is legally our son!
Jan 25, 2010 - found out that our court date is scheduled to be heard in 2 days!
Dec 30, 2009 - got bill for last portion of ET fee. The bill stated our case had been submitted Dec 18!
Dec 28, 2009 - found out that Megersa's case had been submitted to court and that we are in Group V
Dec 23, 2009 - 1st photo update from AAI
Dec 14, 2009 - 1st medical update report
Dec 8, 2009 - Megersa got his welcome bag! :)
Nov 24, 2009 - Megersa is eligible for court (I think!).
Nov 16, 2009 - sent out Megersa's Welcome Bag and Placement Agreement
Nov 12, 2009 - received the Referral Placement Agreement in the mail today!!
Nov 9, 2009 - Officially accepted Megersa's file!
Nov 9, 2009 - Meeting with an International doctor to discuss Megersa's medical file.
Nov 5, 2009 - OUR REFERRAL!! Megersa Jace. I'm already in love with him.
Oct 27, 2009 - 8 months. We're number 2. We "should be getting the call in the next few weeks." ....I'm not gonna hold my breath.
Sept 27, 2009 - 7 month update - seems as though we are #3 right now. We were told we "should be getting a call next month!"
Sept 1, 2009 - met with Open Hearts Adoption for possible grant!
August 27, 2009 - 6 month update - looks like we're number 6 on the list (for now) and it'll still be another 1-2 months.
July 27, 2009 - 5 month update - We are still probably looking at several months before a referral.
July 17-18 - Garage Sale for Jace (in Wheaton)
June 27, 2009 - 4 month update - It looks as though we are about number 6 on the list for a boy.
May 29 & 30, 2009 - Garage Sale for Jace (in Aurora)
May 27, 2009 - 3 month update - there are about 10 families in front of us, we could hear news in about a month, give or take
April 27, 2009 - 2 month update - AAI is handing out referrals to families whose dossiers went to Ethiopia in January
April 1, 2009 - received our 171h approval
March 27, 2009 - 1 month update - not much to report
March 7, 2009 - raffle/silent auction/gold party for Jace!
March 7, 2009 - got fingerprinted for USCIS
February 27, 2009 - DTE (dossier to Ethiopia)
February 14, 2009 - sent our Dossier to AAI
February 10, 2009 - filed the I600A (orphan visa petition)
January 16, 2008 - AAI called and said our homestudy was approved!
December 28, 2008 - Dossier arrived in the mail!
December 22, 2008 - 2nd (and final) Homestudy Visit
December 20, 2008 - received the "green folder" from AAI
December 15, 2008 - First Homestudy Visit
December 7, 2008 - sent in adoption processing contract to AAI
December 3, 2008 - Tim and Katie got first set of fingerprints for ICM
November 26, 2008 - got approved by AAI to adopt from Ethiopia
Novemeber 21, 2008 - got approved by ICM
November 21, 2008 - sent in application to Adoption Advocates International (our adoption agency)
November 19, 2008 - sent in application to Illinois Christian Ministries (our homestudy agency)
